Photographing close to my home has the big advantage that I can visit interesting locations frequently. In the last 8 years I have photographed locations in Münsterland repeatedly to show the same spot under new conditions.

The series on this site show places and their variations over the seasons.

Forest creek near Greven-Gimbte

Usually I am happy when I find a good location bathed in an extraordinary atmosphere of light. "Beeing at the right momant at the right place" can usually not be repeated. So it took me some time to recognize, that it is worth taking another photograph later on, althohoug the light might not be perfect then. Comparing images of the same scene photographed at different times helps to a more careful close look to the set of photographs.

I don't carry photographs of previous visits with me when I go there again to take another image for the series. So I just try to frame approximately the same view. And that is not allways perfect.

The Nature Reserve "Feuchtwiesen Saerbeck" protects a type of cutural landscape, which has become very seldem. This area is not drained as most of the fields in the neighbourhood. So the different colours of wet grassland can still be observed here.

Bever estuary

One of my favorite locations is at the Bever estuary near Telgte.
The area beginns at a former water mill. Therafter the river meanders through grassland where several old trees are growing. 300 m further south the river flows into the river Ems not far from a small oxbow lake.

The images of the following 6 series are taken in this area.
