Meadows and Fields France and South-West-Germany April 23 - May 1 2011 in
France |
Photographing meadows and fields in spring is pure pleasure! In this series I
used the DSL for single-shots, not trying to compose panoramics as I do usually
for my landscape photographs. |
Most images are taken in the Mts. du Mâconnais and in the Beaujolais-Mountains
(North-West of Lyon) or in the Revermont (North east of Lyon). The hillside behind this little castle is covered withe small vineyards, meadows and fields. |
Some meadows are covered with clover often associated with ... |
... greater yellow rattle ... |
... forming a gorgeous carpet. |
Some plants protrude from this background and attract our paticular attention. |
Bees love visiting these flowers and photographers love observing them in doing so. |
The blossom of the marguerite has a fascinating symmetric order. |
Is it a good idea of the joung grasshopper to choose these blossoms for a rest? ... |
...A few plants beside it a crab spider is waiting for exactly this kind of food. |
Big and showy orchids are eye-cathers in every meadow... |
... especially when they are visited by beetles in a contrasting dress. |
But there are also many plants, which are responsible for the soft tones in this synphony of colours and forms. |
This inconspicuous seed head serves as a resting place for a tiny caterpillar. |
Arnica has not only large yellow blossoms, but also nicly curled foliage. |
Dry grassland as on this resting place does not look very promizing. But the
first impression is missleading. |
Meadow cranesbill, |
Burnt orchid. |
An Owlfly warming up in the morning sun. |
Two Knapweed Fritillaries mate on the blossem of red clover. |
And if you get a bit tired of all this photographing you may just lay down in the meadow an look up and watch the clowds passing above the buttercups. ... |
... But finally the weather and especially the wind will put an end to almost every photographic session in the meadows. |

In the Beaujolais-Mountains I passed by a small field of flowering flax. |
Every stalk carries several blossoms. |
The delicate blossems are light blue |
The sun will dry the dewdrops from the flax-blossoms in a few minutes. |
This series ends with an image of the flax field in the evenig |

Some pictures are included, which are taken 6 weeks later in southwest Germany at Freiburg. |
As it was shown previously in some other photographs I like to photograph plants from the bottom against the sky. Now in the summer the grass turns pale yellow beside the summer flowers. |
Perennial peavine draws long runners threw the unmowed summer-meadows. |
After the asparagus-season the plants start growing ... |
whereas the wheat is almost ripe. |
I found me a fallow field with barley, oat and various herbs.
The little hoverfly did not care at all what happend down there at the bottom between the plant stalks ! (↓) |
